Moondog

“Moon Dog has never shied away from experimenting, all while having a good time”.

Where does the name Moondog come from?

Moondog was the name of an American musician, compose, poet and inventor of several musical instruments. Amazingly he was blind from the age of 16 and was known for experimenting with unique sounds and compositions. While Moon Dog Craft Brewery has come a long way from where we started we still pride ourselves on experimenting with different beer styles and flavours.

Tell me a bit about the origins of Moondog and how the brewery has evolved since it started?

Moon Dog started with 2 brothers Josh and Jake, and their mate Karl taking over a grungy warehouse in the back streets on Abbotsford in 2010. Initially brewing beers that had never been seen before in Australia and pushing the boundaries of what beer could be, things look a whole lot different now. The Abbotsford site has now become a busy bar, and after taking over 4 buildings in the street and outgrowing them all the team is on the move to Preston. Moon Dog World is Preston is a huge 12,000m2 site with a unique 725 person bar, and a state-of-the-arc brewing facility that will soon be able to pump out over 10m litres of beer a year.

What makes Moondog stand out from other craft beers?

Moon Dog has never shied away from experimenting, all while having a good time. Some of our most popular beers come from a mash up or recreation of flavours such as our Splice of Heaven pine lime icecream IPA, which tastes just like a Splice Icecream! Our core range of products also has a strong following, all with a focus on being super sessionable!
