The top alcohol and industry trends of 2018

Just like clothes, we are constantly seeing new trends come and go within the alcohol industry. Especially in the world of Instagram where trends in alcohol are just as much about the way they look as they are about how they taste.

Take a look at our top trends from the past year below.

Rosé

Although a bit behind on this trend to the rest of the world, Australia finally caught up to the whirl wind storm of Rosé and has become the drink of choice for many millennials.

Rosé is a fun, summery and insta-worthy drink that many people have been choosing recently over a white wine.

Pink Spirits

With the success of Rosé, spirits have jumped on the pink marketing train too, in particular gin.

Aperol Spritz
Unless you have been living under a rock it’s hard to walk into a bar or scroll through Instagram without coming across an Aperol Spritz. Not only do these drinks scream summer, but they taste delicious as well, I don’t think these will be leaving in 2019 any time soon.

Pimm’s

Thanks in part to the marketing strategy of branded cups, paper straws and even in some cases on tap within venues, Pimm’s has become a popular go to refreshing cocktail.

Elderflower Liqueur

Made from flowers, elderflower Liqueur is the perfect accompaniment to a gin cocktail, as gin is fresh and lacks an intense sweetness.

Craft beer

Admittedly craft beer was not a new trend for 2018, but it has remained a predominate one in most bars and clubs.

Sustainability

Industry trends are not only limited to the type of alcohol we drink but it also impacts the way we serve it. With the awareness of sustainability at an all time high, 2018 saw the drastic decrease of the use of plastic straws.
